Welcome, Riette. Smiling

Dracaena aletriformis is a good match.

http://www.africanbulbs.com/page76.html

It would help if you can say from which area the plant is in South Africa, there's an enormous number of plants there which are not found elsewhere.

It might also help if you can say which time of year it was in flower, there are winter and summer rainfall areas.

Nice plant!

There is an entry for this here, but there are no photos. It would be great if you could add yours!

I proposed to add the first photo to the database Lin, so if Riette doesn't mind when it's accepted the additional details can be added such as location in the comments. Riette, wait until the photo is added then you can edit it to add your comments. Thumbs up

I am so grateful for your info and sorry, I am new to this page and is still trying to get used to everything. *Blush* The plant is growing in Kwa-zulu Natal in South africa which is sub tropical. It looks like Dracaena aletriformis is indeed the plant - thank you so much for the info.. Thumbs up

Don't worry Riette, we are all new at some time to a forum! If you need any help just ask, the 'Sandbox' forum might be a good place.

Dave and his wife Trish are always willing to help, you won't find a better couple than these two! Others here will also do their best to help you find you way around so just ask. Smiling

You can edit the details to add location and date, I can't do it but each person who owns a photo can. Once a photo has been enlarged you will see links at the bottom, choose the one which says " Edit this image's caption, details, etc."

Feel free to ask for ID of any other plants you might come across.
