I am over the moon re: the dwarf amaryllis I bought from bloomingbulbs.com

Here is my first, Joker:
Thumb of 2017-11-26/Turbosaurus/ea1509

I am so pleased with these little bulbs. They are throwing up infloresecence like its going out of style, at least two on each bulb (this is my first bloom on the first bulb, others right behind them) and they're not all that mini in terms of flowers.

In terms of pot size there isn't much difference, but in terms of space to rejuvenate in the summer I'm hoping these dwarfs will allow me to extend my collection Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
Oh, BTW, none cost me more than $7, most about $5. Let me repeat, at least two inflorescence on every bulb so far. I have never looked forward to winter before with this much excitement. I'm a bit worried that the bulbs are going gang-busters because they are only half the diameter they arrived and I'm concerned about bulking them up for next year, but I'll woryr about that in spring.
The plural of anecdote is not data.
The plural of bozos is Dasilyl - so please don't engage with my website troll who typically caches my first post and responds ugly just to be nasty. If it gets upity, please ignore it.

They are beautiful. The bulbs feel almost empty when they are done blooming. It may take 2 or 3 years before they r-bloom, but you will see them start to bulk up again through the summer.

The terms Dwarf or Miniature Amaryllis are a way of describing the relative size of the flower and bulb, not an actual "group" in itself. Joker is actually a Sonata cultivar from Hadeco in South Africa. That's their midsize (10-16.5 cm diameter) flowered bulbs. Symphony is their largest (16.5+ cm) flowered bulbs. Sonatini is the name given to their smaller (6-10 cm) flowered bulbs. Solo are the tiny (less than 6- cm) flowered bulbs. I have noticed that many internet sellers are listing Sonatini bulbs. Some are selling the Sonatini bulbs from Hadeco. However on doing further research, I discovered that a Dutch company, W R Leenen is hybridizing their own line of Sonatini bulbs, breeding for outdoor hardiness and ability to naturalize. So there are 2 completely different groups of Sonatini: One out of the Netherlands and one out of South Africa. All Sonatini are "miniature" in size, but a "miniature" cultivar is not necessary a Sonatini. Wow!

Thanks Barb,

I had 3 pots of Sonatini's that I purchased from https://www.hiddenspringsflowe...
Harvey had a breeding program going on, I'm amazed at the number flowers they put out and how hardy they are, they have been going on for 3 years and every summer they get larger and produce more bulbs!
