Ok guys, here's round 1. The first set of Narcissus Ziva have all bloomed, so I've taken the second set out of the fridge this evening. I've been loving the scent that has permeated my home form these delicious smelling bulbs. :~)

Lovely Cem! Alas my 3 duds are still duds..only that 1 bulb bloomed. The bulb that bloomed has seed pods..should I just chop the entire flower stalk and just let it grow its leaves till it dries out?

If the bulbs are still firm, don't give up. Go ahead and cut the bloom stalk that's going to seed, but leave the leaves, no pun intended. Can you plant Ziva out in the garden in your zone? Also, in my first picture on the left note the shallow container, where the bulbs are about done blooming, there is one bulb left in that container that is now starting to grow, although the other three are done blooming and drying out. I also have Hyacinthoides in all the containers, that are just starting to grow, so I'm going to cut the bloom stalks when they're done, and let the Hyacinthoides do their thing. This was a true experiment for me, and I'll definitely do it again next year. I planted Paperwhites in pots last year with crocus and hyacinths, the hyacinths continue to bloom, but the Paperwhites have only put up leaves the 2nd year. I'm surprised that they even lived and didn't rot in 7a/b, considering we've had many days below freezing. The pots have remained outside since last spring. Annette

I can plant the bulb in my garden, but in a container. So do I bury the bulb or plant it like an amaryllis with the neck showing? We are having warmer weather this coming days, good timing I think.

Bing and google are my best friends, LOL. I just checked, and it said plant at a depth of 4-5 inches. I assume you'd treat them like any other narcissus, and give them some bulb fertilizer.

Okay, I have chopped off the bloom..this bulb has a second stalk, just with leaves, I do not know if it will still try to yield a flower stalk. It's nice gardening weather today! Just a few more degrees and I will be in the garden Big Grin

Great, happy planting. I hope your Ziva behaves and gives you blooms as it should.

Round 1 of the Narcissus Ziva is done blooming and have been booted to the back deck to allow the Hyacinthoides in the same containers to continue to develop. Round 2 of N. Ziva is now blooming inside, and continues to give off their yummy scent. Tarev, did you ever plant your bulbs?

My first bulb that bloomed is still in her container, just growing out her roots and leaves...
The others did not bloom, but one of them is also sending out roots.

I guess I just got duds heheh They seem to like the water gel beads though, so am trying to see how far along they will like it there. It is fun to see their roots poking. Smiling

Don't give up if the bulbs are still firm. If they're making roots it means they're still going to grow and you may get blooms. Big Grin

Hey Tarev, those bulbs look very healthy, I wouldn't call them duds. Can they be put outside, to get some sunshine, or is it still too cold there at night? I suspect your're still going to get some blooms.

We still go 37-38F at night..but we go high 70's during the day. So would that be okay to do, to bring them out now?

So long as It's not going to go below freezing, they should be ok. They may enjoy the night chill. As you can see in the first post, I put my first set out on the back deck, and it's gone down to 34* at night and they're fine.

It was a great day here,I spent hours in the garden planting peonies, and fertilizing all the irises and roses, and did 3 pots with caladium bulbs, and pansies on top of those for my office. The rest of the daffodils and tulips are starting to bloom here, and the rain tonight and tomorrow will help wake up the rest of the garden Smiling

This would be my first year to try my hand with the hymenocallis bulbs..hoping they will try to grow heheh

We are going to have a nice weather too up to this weekend too! I think my hosta eyes are slowly showing as well! They surely know it is warmer already than usual Big Grin

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They bloom.

That is two of the bulbs & a third has a bloom stalk coming along quickly. The fourth bulb shows no signs of a bloom stalk yet; however it has two separate sets of leaves coming out of the bulb.

These were planted on Nov. 19th.

I think they need to be outside Tarev as Cem suggested. I put mine out a long time ago & only brought then in overnight when we were going to get freezing temps. They get about 6 hours of full sun & they really began to take off when I put them out there. The only thing I would worry about with yours being in the water in the glass is that it might get too hot & almost boil with the sun getting magnified through the glass. Shrug! Confused
