Yes, Joanne, those are blooming in Ohio in January!

I'm telling you, we really haven't had much of a winter yet. We've had only 2 dustings of snow, a little ice, a few scattered cold days here and there. And it's supposed to be in the 50s for the next four days. Our 15 day forecast doesn't have anything brutal in it, remaining warm. That would get us to mid-February, at which time our average daily temp is on the rise toward spring.

I'm thinking I should definitely do some seed sowing today. Think spring!

I have a few begonia seeds I need to sow for under lights, probably a few others. I just drag my feet on this because actually doing it requires a lot of fuss, like sterilizing the soil and equipment. Wintersowing is just so much easier, but I don't think that's best for a heat lover like begonia.

See Allison! Looks like a pretty white one! They have been in bud for quite a while now. I'm sure they aren't usually showing yet because I always check! You know how hellebores are promoted as being winter flowering but I find the hybrids are more like March and April. Going to check out Henry10's link...

March blooms The only coleus to be found in this area so far are the three I managed to overwinter. They are still on the maybe list. So far we have been unable to find any . I had several Amaryrillis to bloom also that I forgot to collage here. One red day lily has popped. No pic of it. I will snap a pic of my coleus for you and give you a laugh. Hey I worked hard saving those babies...lol shirleyt a special hello to the gang.
