Nice view you've got there, Nora, and good photography! These are from last season, or have you already had some heavy snows this year? Hasn't hit us yet here.

Here in central Florida we're still having highs in the low 80'sF, with lows in the 60'sF but a cold front is coming ... Sunday morning our low is predicted to be 38ºF. Brrr, it's going to be a bit chilly.

Thanks, Alex, we have had a bit of snow - then it melted and was milder - now it's back to a crust of snow and freezing weather.
On Nov. 1, 2017, there was a clear sky and a beautiful sunset, so I snapped some shots.

Thumb of 2017-12-08/HemNorth/8e9af9 Thumb of 2017-12-08/HemNorth/34055e And south.
The next morning at 8:32 am - just a skiff of snow: From back of house - to the east, and then to the west.

A few days later, after a few more light snowfalls, WildTurkey tracks, like hieroglyphics, surrounded the house.

Most of that snow melted. And a few days later, I came upon two of the culprits - out of a herd of 7 or 8 who frequent our backyards. Thumb of 2017-12-08/HemNorth/8e14b1
I hibernated for almost all of November with a bad cold - so no more photos.
But one more thing - a few nights ago, after midnight, I heard a sound at my living room window - Wasn't sure if it was the bear or the elk - so I stepped out cautiously, then emitted a loud shout and clapped my hands at a herd of 6 or 7 Elk - who immediately thundered away.
Yes, there's lots to entertain us, in this sedate Senior's Grandview Housing Complex.

Nora you are a show off! I love you're views and I live in the Northern Catskill Mountains in a valley with creeks. We don't have elk though. Bears yes. Turkeys by the flock and I love it. I feel where I live is magical and spiritual. I think your place must be too. Hope you heal fast if you haven't already. Just catching up on my newsletters.

Oh wow someone put a lot of thought into positioning that housing complex! Good for you!
Its easy for me to believe in miracles when science can't explain why a blade of grass has its shape and that is just one plant and one attribute.

Lioba, you are right about the 'magical and spiritual' qualities of our place. It is on a bench above the Columbia River, and the views are wonderful.

I realize I've just spent 2 hours looking at photos of the development of Grandview Heights! It is indeed a special place. My husband and I joined the Kootenay Columbia Seniors Housing Cooperative in 2006, and bought our house in 2009. He passed away in 2011, and I continue to garden, and am loving being here.
