Ad Block hasn't upset the numbers on my laptop, but it has an older Firefox version with an older Ad Block.

It's certainly a bug in your ad blocking extension. I'm not sure which one you're using, but much has changed over the recent years in the adblocking world. What used to be the best ad blocker is now just barely better than a scam software.

Today I recommend uBlock Origin for ad blocking, and absolutely nothing else. Zuzu, try switching your Firefox over to that extension, and I bet you that this problem will go away.

I'll be curious if that works. The numbers for likes and acorns also disappeared on my desktop this week. I haven't made any changes, so any of those would be from automatic updates. I've had Ad Block Plus installed for several years and it never interfered before. When I give a 'thumbs up' now, the green box turns to gray and that's how I know it has worked.

So my question would be is if I should uninstall Ad Block Plus and get uBlock Origin instead? I really don't mind ads until they are covering what I'm trying to read or aren't active videos all running and talking at the same time!! I've been really suspicious about the web browsers lately. All of them.

I'm not sure uBlock Origin is compatible with Firefox. It isn't listed among the available add-ons, and I lost many of my earlier features (Samfind, Google image search, etc.) when Firefox 57 came on the scene and they were suddenly pronounced incompatible and had to be replaced with Firefox-friendly alternatives.

I'm simply disabling Ad Block only on this site, and that works for me. The ads on this site actually add color and beauty to the pages and never jump around or make noise.

Incidentally, Ad Block most definitely was the reason my thumbnail and acorn numbers disappeared. I re-enabled Ad Block to make sure, and all of the numbers were gone. As soon as I disabled it, they came back.

It's weird, Zuzu. I use Firefox and Adblock, and am up to date on them. The numbers are still ok, so I don't get it.

I still have Windows 7 on the PC, so that might be part of the answer. It's some combination of things that don't work together properly.

Both 7 and 10 have their advantages (and both were a massive improvement over their predecessors, Vista and 8 respectively).

I had Vista and hated it. When it crashed I went to 7 and refuse to budge. I use 10 at work and it's buggy as heck. It tends to see my finger a lot. Whistling Whistling

I've found 10 is generally very stable. There's a couple of minor bugs (one dating back to its release that still hasn't been fixed), but I typically have few issues on my varying devices (the exception being my work laptop and I blame HP's appalling drivers for that).

Ditto!! I agree I'm running Win7, Chome Version 63.0.3239.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) and Adblock Plus 1.13.4. I can see numbers for thumbs and acorns.

I'm thinking about taking Dave's advice and switching to uBlock Origin because Adblock isn't blocking all the ads anymore, especially the ones that blast out their message on their own. Hate those! Angry
