Thanks Lorn:
While I find some information about breeding and multiplying interest I am an everyday gardener with many lilies.
I feel that you are very sensative about everyone on the forum.
OR maybe start a thread on the subject. There may be others with that interest levelwho would like to look over your sholder and learn what they want from your exchange.
Thanks again.

I'd love to see how that is done, Connie. You all are so great and I just love to see how it is done. If you do please send me a link.
I know I won't understand everything but I'll sure enjoy satisfying my curiosity. Those little plants were grown in those tubes???? and when you take them out do you put them in soil????
Wow!

Well I don't do embryo/tissue at all and probably never will. But surely there is info on the internet for anyone who wants to try it. Mold is the biggest enemy!

Charleen... when I take them out of the tubes, wash and plant them, they die Rolling on the floor laughing . I manage to kill a lot of things Thumbs down .

Jo Ann... one of the things I really liked about Cubits was that we could categorize things into separate forums, so hybridizing had its own little area that one could go to, or not. I guess if there was enough interest we could start a lily hybridizing cubit there and I have in fact been thinking about that. Here, the hierarchy is Forum = Lily and Thread = a kazillion lily related subjects. I assume that the hybridizing related threads from Cubits were moved here, but by now are deeply buried!

If it goes to tree mail then others of us won't learn from discussion. I learn so much just reading what others have to say on the hybridizing subject.

Here is a White Henryi CROSS

I know you know, Anthony, but there are a lot of newer people here (and even newer lurkers) that would think your photo is the real White Henryi. Of course it is not. It is a very beautiful result of crossing White Henryi with another lily. In fact, I have one very similar that I crossed:

Lilium 'White Henryi' x Lilium 'Madam Butterfly'

These crosses in the last four pics are really nice. But they are not that unusual. While I know the parentage of mine, chances are that Anthony's two different ones are both crosses different from each other and mine. Yet, they look very similar.

If I were to actually register a name for mine, I'll bet there is already a named one out there that looks the "same", although again, its parentage is likely different. Evaluation of all the characteristics would be crucial. We wouldn't want to go down the road of hostas, where even the experts agree that there are so many cultivars out there that look so much the same.

Another sister in my crossing:
Lilium 'White Henryi' x Lilium 'Madam Butterfly'
