Has anybody ever tried to do any crosses with LA's? Are they fertile at all and if they do produce some seed do you have to do embryo rescue to grow them? Will Tetraploid asiatic pollen work?
I have this HUGE yellow LA (nameless of course, it was a broken bloom-less reject at the nursery) that stands about 4 feet and I wold like to try and breed with it but if it won't work I don't want to waste time and pollen on it.

A few years ago I got seeds from Leftwood from this cross: Lilium lancifolium var. flaviflorum x Lilium ‘Kentucky’. Kentucky is a LA. Not the best picture.

So the LA's must be pollen fertile then, at least 'Kentucky' appears to be. Were there any difficulties with the seed sprouting?

No, I think they all germinated. But since they had a poor growth in my greenhouse the bulbs was quite small when I planted them out. I have only this one. Will be exiting to see it bether this year since I have moved it.

Well I'll have to give it a try then. I was planning to try with Pearl Jennifer and a reverse cross and there is another LA I am thinking of trying. Anybody else have any experience with LA crosses ?

Good to see that result, Øystein! Don't forget to post pics next season, too!

I have also tried the reverse cross - L. 'Kentucky' x L. lancifolium var. flaviflorum. I did it three times in two different growing seasons. Kentucky as the pod parent does not produce seed. I remember reading somewhere afterwards that Kentucky is not egg fertile, and I thought to myself: "So it's not just me".

I don't know if this applies to all LA hybrids, though.
