Opinion: Trees, Hearts and Bones

By Sharon
January 28, 2012

Recently I wrote an article about trees and their value to our lives; this is a follow-up to that article. At the time I was writing it, I failed to mention one aspect of trees that we can't do without, so let's get right to the heart and backbone of the matter.

Thank you, Sharon! I woke up this morning thinking about how beautiful the trees look, even in their bare state. No matter the season, they have a certain beauty! In the winter, I can see the stars through the trees at night.

I so enjoyed this article and love all the woodwork too, Vic, Hank's shop is very nice! My dh would drool too!

I also just finished reading the first article, loved it as well, with all the posts of trees! Beautiful. It's nice to see other tree enthusiasts! Green Grin!

Wonderful!!

I am lucky enough to know how beautiful the flutes are that Lynn's husband makes as I got one for our Garden Art Christmas Exchange. Awesome!

Sweet Anni, thank you!

Lynn, you have treasures with those wooden pieces, and the flutes are treasures as well! Beautiful.

Mary, I mentioned the problems that Haiti faces in the Tree article that preceded this one. It's a sad situation there. Something I hope can be avoided in other places.

Christine, I love your avatar!! And like you, I enjoy the bare bones of the trees this time of year. Seeing the stars through the trees at night is pretty wonderful, so is seeing the moon! Last night it looked like a cradle holding on to the branches.

Brenda, I'm still green over that flute.

Thanks for reading the article, but all recognition must go to Vic and Hank. I'm just the keyboard operator this time.

The other thing I love (and don't get to see very often now that I live in the south) is the bare bones of a tree powdered with its winter frosting. These are from my front/side yards, Feb of 2010. First one is a maple, the next a sweetgum

I have a bit of envy myself, what a special gift to receive, Brenda! and the moon pic is most stunning!

Neither have I, but I'm not complaining over-much about it. After the last 2 colder-than-usual winters, I'm loving that it's 56F on Jan 30.

We have been having frost coated trees lately. It is so beautiful to wake up to in the morning.

Brenda, have you learned to play your flute yet? If you have any trouble and need help, please call and Cliff will explain how easy it is to do. Group hug

I'll try to get some photos of the cedar chest and rocking chairs, then post them hear.

Lynn, I was wondering if the flute was made of cedar, since you said it was Native American, I know they used cedar often in flute making. I look foward to pics of your dh's other wood-works of art.
