@Zuzu, Thanks! I hope it's okay for me to be adding new Peperomia plants to the database. I got through the B's at the Catalogue of Life website but will hold off until I get the okay to proceed further.

Lin, you've done a ton of work on this, and it's really appreciated, but it doesn't really save us any time. The admins have to do the same amount of work as you when they check your proposals to make sure the new names aren't hybrid taxa or have synonyms we have to process, and then we have to go through the whole list anyway to find misspelled duplicates and synonyms, so it's better if you just tell us there's a genus that needs to be updated.

Thanks Zuzu! Since I was at CoL, looking at Peperomia and noticing many not in the database, I just figured I'd add them. It's amazing how many plants are in the genera Peperomia! In the future, if I come across plants that I don't find in the database, I'll post a note to this forum for you all to check it and add them. Appreciate the work you all do!

Thanks for understanding, Lin. It's just that we admins have been at this so long that we have streamlined the process. You probably noticed that I declined some of your new plant proposals. That's because they listed synonyms for which we already had entries in the database. It's a relatively simple process to add the new name to the existing entry rather than create a new entry for the new name, transfer the data from the earlier entry to the new one, and delete the earlier entry. We do it in one step instead of three.

Updating is also more complex than the mere addition of new names. When I went through the a's and b's, I found 15 synonyms to process, 3 misspelled duplicates to delete, 3 invalid names to delete, and 14 more new names that weren't among your proposals.
