The weird cristate Echinopsis bloom is having a 2nd chapter. Two new conjoined portions are trying to open up on the side of the spent bloom from a couple of days ago. Not attractive, but curious.

Here is the first report , this corypantha had been savaged by mealie . All cleaned now but lots of scars . Slightly lower than I would like in the pot but whole top cm or so is just moler clay so hopefully it will be ok
Going to leave ir to settle for a couple of weeks . Very high mineral soil maybe 80-90% that was what it was in previously

Today's repotting (4 plants) ...

Medusa skipped a size (8" to 12"), now in its final pot.

Thumb of 2024-05-07/Baja_Costero/7fccc6

That plant is intended to be the mother of future generations, to replace a plant I used for years to propagate dozens of babies. It will be about the width of the pot.

Sharkskin makes pretty hefty roots for the size of the rosette. Now in a 3 gallon (10") pot:

Thumb of 2024-05-07/Baja_Costero/5f7b9b

San Pedro cactus propagated from a piece that someone broke off the plant in the public garden and left there, now in its final container before it goes in the ground (3 gallon size)

Thumb of 2024-05-07/Baja_Costero/e8ac86

I had to break the previous pot to get this agave out, here is utahensis now also in a 10 inch pot

Thumb of 2024-05-07/Baja_Costero/948cfa

Separately, I have been dressing up certain plants to pass on to others. Here is Aloe 'Marmalade' (the pot is purple with a drippy pattern) and a random Echinopsis, both in 8 inch (ID) pots

Finally some new plants that came in yesterday (4" pots)

Thumb of 2024-05-07/Baja_Costero/5ce4f4

Very excited about two Denmozas and E. pasacana. They seem like South American versions of our barrel cacti and cardón (tree). One day they will hopefully join them in the garden.

Ii i was local I would take that KG in a heartbeat, my marmalade is very slow growing and always seems to look ill
that utahensis is also special , again all I can hope is that mine gets to that level

succulents today. The flapjack has buds between leaf and stalk, pups underneath and is still blooming. Pup I potted this early spring is doing well too. The rest are doing ok. I lost my Crassula Perforata, Delosperma Echinatum, and Cubic Frost. I think the rest made it.

So I continue to tackle the acquired plants by how in trouble they look. This eriosyce was covered in mealies with evidence of root ones as well. Cleaned off and submerged in water for over a hour . The tap root structure was almost entirely clear of the top of the pot so it was also is dire need of a repot . Going to dry until the weekend and treat again before potting up

Those crazy textured Astrophytums are $$$$ here. It looks like you got one with a very nice pattern. Thumbs up

This week's garden installations, starting with an old Astrophytum and a much younger Senecio volunteer that I left in the pot with it

I love the Dudleya seedling photo. It's like a "Where's Waldo?" picture. I think I found 15 seedlings, but I'm not really sure. Sticking tongue out

Hilarious! Baja! I'll have to try that on my laptop. If I zoom in on my phone, I can only see small sections of the photo at one time and I totally lose my place and lose count.

2 additions a regular semp(turns out I cannot get a cutting from mine, since they are very densly packed- Should also give you an update tomorrow on those probably...), and sedum spathulifolium. Still haven't managed to get my hands on hylotelephium or Phedimus

Managed to find these 3 - a large G.horstii or maybe denudatum. Will point out the 6 ribs are mildly unusual. The others are both in the genus/group I call Parodia, one being polyacantha or a relative, the other is likely a juvenile, whiter spined magnifica. Should give them a pesticide spray tomorrow. Was looking for M.hahniana but murphys laws and all that-you know how it goes.

Also got side tracked by construction and garden work today, so didn't manage to put work in on my rocks.... Sad
Tomorrow should be fine though. Also, I got blueberries on one plant, and the cranberries blooming on both. Bit odd that those seem to be faring better than the melons and strawberries....I admit mistakes have been made...
