Garden Gate has always been a favorite of mine also ... I no longer subscribe but I do pick it up on occasion when I spot one at the supermarket.

I like BHG's Country Gardens too but haven't picked that one up in awhile. I know with spring right around the corner I'll be watching for gardening magazines on the shelves! Smiling

I have grown herbs and veggies in containers but mostly I'm a flower gardener. I've been reading all the latest garden magazines at the library and investing in Pamela Crawford books at Amazon http://www.sideplanting.com/de.... I don't have the budget for her side planting baskets but can take advantage of her research and test trials. Baywood Greens golf cource uses side planting method, border pots and hayracks. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/n... and have submitted a few pix of landscaping with border pots.

While there's nothing quite like curling up to a good gardening magazine I try to save a few trees and read some of the free gardening magazines available on the internet http://gardenersdetective.web....

Still like the magazines to hold so ordered Country Gardens. I love the side plantings in the containers, might try that this year. I saw that at the kinman Garden Company.

I don't subscribe to any magazines at all anymore except BHG. Magazines are just too expensive to subscribe now, even the e-versions. I look at some online occasionally.

Yes, thanks, Sandi. But you know, I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks to subscribe to them, like we're meant to do. But they cost a lot more than a few bucks. I just can't believe it' costs that much to produce and e-magazine or ebook. Once they create the file....

I love Country Gardens, Garden Gate too. I was at Lowes today and saw a mag called Flea Market Gardens. I wanted it but now for $10!

I collect old water cans, vintage hand tools and have other old things in my garden I bet it is really good.

Sandi, thanks for posting the list of online magazines -- I've quit subscribing to almost everything, like many of seem to be doing; not ready to give up my internet service, tho, so may as well make as much use of it as possible! Smiling

Your very welcome Weedwacker, but I got it from another website. Just wanted to share. I still subscribe to a few magazines, but they tend to build up and I don't get to read them often. I've stopped renewing any except Garden Design and Southern Living. I'll probably give those up too when subscriptions run out.

I like Garden Gate. I just renewed it, but goodness, it was expensive. I will admit, the magazine is quality, with great photos, designs and not cheap paper. I have gotten several good crafty type ideas from this magazine.

I just gave up Birds and Blooms - decided I didn't need both Garden Gate & Bird and Blooms.

Will occasionally pick up magazines at the store if there is an article I want, picking up an occasional one is still cheaper than multiple subscriptions. I have an e-reader which I love, but still prefer reading an actual magazine, catalog or book better.

In fact, I love catalogs -all these seed & plant catalogs that I am getting in the mail right now are almost as much fun as a regular garden magazine subscription! ~Jan

Our local library has several gardening mags and I am so glad! Fine Gardening is now $30 or more a yr. Goodness, anyone using a Ipad on here? I have thought of buying one to read with because I need to use a large font to see well.

I have several Birds and Blooms and really hate to part with them. I have donated several of the older yrs to our local nursing home. The elderly seem to enjoy them.

Jan, don't you just love armchair gardening. In the winter I plant a huge veggie garden lol!

I love my Ipad. And yes, just touch the screen and slide your fingers apart, and you can enlarge the page, or photo or whatever.

And yes, I do plant virtual enormous gardens in the winter - and then by spring reality takes over - sometimes! ~Jan
