I have been trying to add my picture to the plant database. It is a phalenopsis Brother Lancer. This is what I found on the web to verify the name that is on the tag. https://www.orchidweb.com/prod.... But the data base ,add a new plant,will not let me add it. I must be doing something wrong. Brother Lancer is not in the data base so I was trying to add that first and then the picture. Thanks for your help.

No problem, Rob. The "gx" stands for "grex" and isn't actually part of the name (it just indicates that the "Brother Lancer" part is the grex name and not a clonal name). The Orchid Register is much clearer if you use that for searching entries: https://apps.rhs.org.uk/hortic...

I suspect the reason why you might have been having difficulty submitting the new plant proposal yourself is that the genus is spelt "Phalaenopsis", whereas you spelt it without the second "a".

Thank you for all your help. I have one more in bloom. It is an oncidium. It is called Winter Wonderland. I will work on it this next week.

I'm sure @Australis Joshua will be able to figure out if there is an Oncidium Winter Wonderland or if it is indeed one that's been changed to Aliceara. With the way Orchid genera are changing so often anymore, I don't know how anyone keeps up with them to know whats what.

Lin is correct - it is Aliceara Winter Wonderland. That's the only registered grex in the Oncidium Alliance with that name.
