Well, I don't know if you can call this a sign of spring or not, but a pot of seedlings that didn't germinate from last year has sent up 3 new sprouts. How cool it that. I haven't planted my new seeds yet, they should be ready to plant in a week.

What I'm wondering is why a single seed sprouts quickly in a pot with ten in it, and the rest take 3 or 4 weeks to start popping up? Or longer. A year is unusual, I agree.

This seems to be a good reason not to discard the pots planted with iris seeds. So I will put that in my notes.

I can't believe it, I have crocus coming up! I spotted several today in one of the beds. It seems too early, but I don't remember when they came up last year, possibly march. I'm worried because it is still mid winter. Oh well for now I'll just be happy that spring is coming soonish.

I have tulips coming up, Liz. They usually bloom with the TB's here.

None of my potted seeds are showing. Sorta worries Me, but that leaves room for more otherwise. Now daffodils leaves are showing in North Charlotte. Those pointy little iris crown are now molding into fans!! Losses I thought I suffered are sending little increases for 2019. It's in the air!
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

The first little yellow crocus opened here yesterday - very early! I too have tulips showing a lot of green and irises setting new fans in spite of the frosts we've had all week. Too weird! Blinking

This is a scary time, with all the frosts on the cusp of winter and spring. I hope everyone's plants do ok Crossing Fingers! For some reason I've let myself stay calm about my irises, even with the wet, cold winter we're having. Other years I go outside and obsess, walking the beds, looking for early signs of rot. This year I'm just letting nature do her thing and I will figure it out in the spring time. I guess the new house is taking up all the stress I have lol.

My first crocus bloomed and there are lots of daffys with golden buds. Temp today is almost seventy by Saturday it will be in the 40's then back up to almost 80 by late next week. The weather is going insane.

But after driving in a snowstorm from Michigan to Illinois last Friday I am really happy to be back here with the rolling temps. Smiling

Leslie, I can't believe you were driving in that storm last Friday! Thankfully, so many businesses and schools had closed (not mine, Thumbs down ) that there was little traffic on the road for me. Hopefully you made it to your destination(s) safely!
