This is an attractive flower that was growing wild. But I think it's an escape from a garden. Anyone have an ID for this? Thanks.

Ditto to Alstroemeria: http://www.google.com/search?q...

Very pretty! I don't grow them but they are often used in floral arrangements.

Alstroemeria, indeed! Sigh, growing wild? You wouldn't believe the hoops I've jumped through trying to grow them here. Hilarious!

Thanks for that ID. I googled it and came up with a lot of information. The species tend to be invasive but apparently some of the more recently developed modern varieties aren't so invasive. There were at the top of a trail called "1000 Steps" which goes up a mountain side. It's a popular walk and I've done it a number of times with a niece when I've been visiting them. This time all these were blooming. They looked like they might have been escapes from some nearby housing.

It is certainly a beautiful walk and it's quite popular. Many people use it for fitness training so especially weekends it can get quite crowded, being so close to the metropolitan area. Seeing I'm on holidays when I'm down there I go during the week and during the day when most (fit) people are at work.

Some plants that escaped too far and into the darker forest. They're growing a bit stunted probably due to lack of light.

Those tree ferns are Dicksonia, but I'm not sure which species.

Well, this is a yellow flower to that I would love to have an id. My husbands cousin lives in Indiana and would like to know the name of this plant. So would I. if it is not toooo invasive, I would be interested in getting some from her. She said it is blooming now and early February. She also mentioned it grows in full sun. any ideas.

Do you think this is a native to Indiana? Perhaps woodland. Please let me know if I should put this in another forum.

Doglover, probably better to start a new thread on this ID forum. Many people would see that this one has been identified already and closed. So they may not come back and see your photos. A new thread will attract far more viewers and result in a faster identification. There is also a wildflower forum and you could try that as well. Good luck with it, you'll find some very knowledgeable people on these forums.

No need to apologize! If JRsbugs suggestion isn't the correct ID, just start a new thread on this forum (just like you did for your original flower). We're all just trying to be helpful here. Smiling
