We have had this 3-person Garden Swing for about 8 years. I know, a long time. But the cushions are still excellent, as is the frame, both steel and aluminium, and we replaced the top with a beautiful striped heavy-canvass top a year ago, and repainted the entire frame. And then this Spring, this happened:

A rip in the nylon base/back! What to do, what to do? Well, I did the "Duct Tape" thing first, and that lasted about two days. Then I had to get the creative juices going! Drink of Rum definitely in order, cold Spring day! Just to let you know that Mrs. Mosher didn't raise a dummy, I came up with the following solution:

This is a sheet of 1/2 exterior plywood, cut to my measurements, and milled by the building supplier from a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood. All I had to do was "round " corners, and then drill holes, so I could insert "tie straps" ! Worked perfectly! When I took it down, I merely cut the ties. Note: Only a few of the "tie straps" shown at this stage.
Finished Product:

And of course, I always drill holes in the deck by the four "feet" of the swing, put in heavy screw-eyes, and lash the "feet" to same, so it never blows over. Also, I put cord from the outside edge of the top, on both sides, and then to the back edge, to keep the top from taking wild swings, independent of the bolts holding the top in position. Note: Do not try this without a drink of Rum!

Brilliant, I love to see someone so clever making something you love better than ever. I have a friend who's swing is headed the the dump, but maybe not. Thank you.

Greene, I haven't been able to post anything in Gardening Ideas Forum, or almost anywhere else. The System needs a total clean up! All the Forums should be looked at. Roses, Rose Photos? You can't enter a new entry to either. Half the forums are full, no place for new entries.

Have you considered it might be something on your end that needs fixing? Others have been posting just fine. Let's ask Super Dave...

@dave, can you please check into this? Does NGA need a total system cleanup? And if not, can this excellent thread be moved to the Garden Ideas Forum? Thanks.

Since so many others have recently successfully submitted photos, including photos of roses, it could be that you are just not seeing the solution on the page. Perhaps if you take a screenshot of what you are seeing and show dave over on the Site Talk Forum, he may be able to find a solution. Hope this helps.

Yes, the site talk forum is definitely the place to continue this. But @fwmosher, a silly question: Are you sure that you're logged in?

You probably are if you can post here.
