I enjoyed every step of it Green Grin!

The river birch is beautiful. Love all the roots and we have those little blue flowers down here too!

How cool that you live so close to such a lovely walking area.

Old??? Nah, you're NOT old!

Great story, Sharon!

Hey Vic,

It's bluet, that little blue flower. flaflwrgrl solved the mystery. I thought for sure it was some variant of chickweed but nothing I'd seen before. Tiny bluet.

It is a nice park except during soccer season and then it's filled with irate parents whose children are on the losing side of a soccer game. We have regional soccer tournaments here and various areas of the park are set up as soccer fields. Otherwise it's pretty quiet. The walkway is shaded, the trees were left along it, and it meanders along the little creek. That's the pretty part.

We're having a cold spell up here again. I won't be taking that walk again anytime soon Smiling

Sharon, thank you so much for that lovely walk in the park. I do feel refreshed now. I don't argue with myself, but think it is a great idea that I should try. I took a walk yesterday, but since I'm a city girl it wasn't very interesting. I was glad to get back home because it was so hot out. No winter here for us.

I'm always looking for your stories as I enjoy them so much. Group hug Lovey dubby

Thanks Pegi. Walks are good, I don't take them enough myself.

And I'm not sure everybody understood the Aunt Bett thing. She was my mother's aunt and was the herbal Medicine Woman back in the days when I was very young. She taught me all about medicinal plants and I wrote a series of articles about her some time ago. Anyway she was a big influence in my life and though those days are long gone, I still hear her voice every time I am around plants, which is most of the time really. All business, she was, but she was a great teacher.

I'm seeing snowflakes outside my window. That should tell you how cold it is here today.

Now, I could have taken that walk. And written about it too. But it would not have been as charming and interesting as you told it. I wonder what I would have focused on. Your writer's eye sees things many of us don't, you know.

And I love the banter you keep up with yourself. Now that is something I can identify with. I do whisper to myself...in my head...a lot. Or maybe it's to God. All I know is, I feel comforted when I do it.

Thanks for letting us in on your walk to the grocery store. I hope you enjoyed your salad! Lovey dubby

Thanks Nap, I am still enjoying my salad. Romaine goes a long way and keeps well, you know.

The banter in my head is often the same banter I had with the two little old ladies with whom I grew up. Their voices have blended with time and I can't tell them apart anymore, but they are there, making sure I do the 'rightest thing' if there's a decision to be made.

And after I make a decision, there they are again: 'You sure you did the rightest thing?'
Still taking care of me. *Blush*
