Funny Cinda...haven't seen it before. My Dad used to feed the squirrels nuts...one day he ran out, but had a box of chicklets in his pocket so he gave them to the little beggars. Hilarious! Hilarious! and yes a box of chicklets is dateing me...oh well Whistling

On our last camping trip, early one morning I saw this little chipmunk gathering fireweed seed fluff, he was so cute balling it up in his paws and then stuffing it in his mouth, I guess he is getting ready for winter. The photos were taken through the trailer window so aren't all that sharp.

Magic photos, Margaret!
That is the cutest thing. We don't have chipmunks here, so I can't complain about them.
Cute little critters, though, seen through your eyes.

Love your little stuffing chippy Margaret, I have them here too. they are fun to watch, but hate it when they eat my bulbs. They even sow their own seeds here Confused They forget that they'll sprouts before they can have their snack. Mine seem to love water, but forget they can't swim. I found two, that had drown this Summer. One in the pond and the other in a pail of water. Thumb of 2012-09-24/Ziggy/49e660

Thanks Ann and Ziggy. Yeah the little ones plant seeds all over the place here too, in my pots, in the middle of my daylilies. I am very careful about leaving water in pails that they can't climb out of, haven't had one drown yet thankfully.

These little critters are nothing like armadillos, they do a little damage at times but most of the time they are just cute. Green Grin!

ok I know I can't compare my chipmunk damage to an armadillo... but I wouldn't call there damage little.. at least here.. add in a bunch of groundhogs... and I am pretty messed up.. we were so overrun with chipmunks the last 2 years.. every time I walked out the house.. I could see 20 of em.. imagine how many I can't see

Hordes of the little chippers eh Allison? I can see how the damage would add up! I imagine groundhogs are quite equal to armadillos.

Allison, I agree that many chipmunks plus groundhogs could do a lot of damage, so far here nature is keeping them in check, we have lots of hawks and owls, even the ravens will grab them if they can. There are groundhogs in the area and I sure hope they don't find their way to my house. Crying

me either.. we trapped and released 2 this year.. the one was so big.. it would set the have a heart off.. and somehow back out of it.. over and over... I had to move the trap to different spots around the yard.. took us months to finally get it.. and was very brave.. I have 4 yorkies.. and the thing would just stand there looking at them while they went mental barking at it.. it had to go.. we always take them far far away too.. in the woods where there are no homes for them to destroy someones stuff.. but the chippies make me nuts.. put a seedling in.. they run over it and feel the ground is different.. and dig it up.. the one year I used the sponge plugs .. what a mistake.. dig it up.. I put it in.. dig it up.. I put it in.. 3 weeks later I let it die cause I got sick of it.. now they are trashing all my containers trying to hide there stash.. and yes the yorkies do get the chipmunks now and then.. but not enough of them
