Now would not be a good time to visit. They have another really bad fire going that shut down 45 miles of I-5 in both directions https://www.oregonlive.com/wil...

@schreka
Annie, is everything okay in Fort Jones?

It's always a good idea to check out the Trip Check site before setting out on a long trip like this. It will inform of of closures and delays (and detours). It was my friend during the big Eagle Creek fire last year when I drove to Hood River. I think each state has "Trip Check".

Thanks for your concern, Lynn! We don't have fire actively burning in our valley at the moment, but we've definitely felt the impacts. Fires around Redding and I-5 closures delay shipping and a summer of thick smoke means the plants aren't getting as much sun as they need. The deciduous trees are even changing color prematurely because light levels are so low. But we've adapted and removed enough shading from the greenhouse roofs to compensate.

Yes Annie thanks for updating! May the fires be over soon! I wondered why the trees here in Seattle are beginning to change, we have hazy skies, so now I know it is a light thing.
I tip my hat to you.

If you look towards the back, there's about 3 people listening to one of the MCG staff giving them a short tour of the facility...maybe not that short if anyone started to ask "What's the name of that plant?"

After posting over 74 photos, NOW have I convinced you to go visit, Karen? Confused
