Leslie ~ I discovered one iris, not just with mold, but rotting in the leaves. Should I dig it up and clean it and then plant it in a pot after it dries?

I have several rhizomes with "rotting" leaves,Evelyn, but they just need to be removed in a clean-up. All this rain! (the old grey slimey leaves need to be removed, I mean).

But the rhizome is rotting, too. I already moved the leaves to the burn pile, but we are going to get more rain tomorrow!

Evelyn - Yes, clean it up and pot it. If it recovers well you can always pop it back in the ground in a couple months.

I am aware Moon & Stars is a BB. Thanks.

The rain finally stopped for a while this afternoon so I went to check the iris bed. It seems rot has taken Disco Music but the others look ok. Some have a fair bit of yellowing of the leaves but I'm hoping it's just normal cold damage. Crossing Fingers!

Leslie ~ Thank you! I did that and then put it in the shed. It has windows so it won't be too dark in there, but it was raining, then snowing and I didn't want it to be soaking wet again too soon, but still keep it where it won't get too warm. One day, when the "great light in the sky" reappears, I will take it out of the shed and move it to the small pot ghetto. Thank You!

Were we talking about un-ceasing rain? We were in Pigeon Forge Tennessee over the weekend for a conference and it rained so much. The river that runs down alongside every unique business there broke its banks and blocked off roads. Had it flooded even two feet more, a lot of buildings would be comprimised.

We got lucky, because we had two ways out. One was blocked, and the other, was only a foot from breaking the bank and flooding there too. When we came back, that area was completely flooded and we dipped and dived around this large apple barn building to the other side. Lucky it was there, otherwise we'd have had to find a different route.

As far as I know, the flooding did not injure anybody. But to say I am starting to get tired of rain is an understatement. Shrug!

Glad you got out safely Monty! I must admit the Tennessee Valley has gotten a considerably greater volume of rain than us.

Yep, and it isn't any better here either. While it didn't flood (that much), that big bright shiny thing in the sky came back for the first time in several days. Anybody know what that thing is? Confused Hilarious!

After another nine continuous days of rain and another minor flooding of my basement (boy I love the pump I bought) that bright orb shined the entire day today. Wish it would stay for longer visits

Sorry to hear about your basement Leslie, I hope it doesn't cause mold to take hold. That's a special sort of nightmare. Group hug

Leslie ~ I am hoping that the weather will dry up a bit for you. Many people have had way too much rain this winter. I'm glad your new pump is working well. Group hug

When will it stop raining? I keep trying to give it away, but no takers !

But, since this is an Iris Forum .. could someone ID this beauty?

Peggy - sorry for the late response. The white is an historic. How tall is it? I would have said Snow Maiden, but the beards are yellow. Lots of white iris so that will make it harder to pinpoint a possible match.
