I ordered Finger Prints. Well, actually, went in with my neighbor to get it. He can grow it, as he has a bit better culture than I do, and then when it gets to 4 fans, we will split it. I can get pollen in the mean time... Hurray!

I am really surprised that Dottie is still introducing plants. The last time I ordered from her was about 2 years ago and she told me she was retiring. She referred me to the Daileys Daylily Garden. They sell a lot of her plants.

She had a few plants selected to intro before she cut back. I would expect her to sell new intros for a couple more years.

Dottie is to "blame" for my daylily addiction, (along with my Mom). Jamie Gossard told me that she is also responsible for him getting started in daylilies. I wonder if she knows all that??? I like Finger Prints, too!

I sent a message to Dottie saying that some of the ones I wanted were "Sold Out" and she responded that she might have a few available - so I sent her a list of the few I would like to have, like Break dance, St Elmo's Fire and Sir Elton. Of course, I have to wait until I see if she still has them, and what the cost is first. But that is so nice of her to do that. Granted, most hybridizers seem to bend over backwards for us and our addictions.

I will also check out Daily Daylilies, and thank you Juli, I will keep you offer in mind ~Jan

It is that time of year again! Dottie tells me her new intros are up.

I especially like Face Mask - as I really love her Cold Cold Heart, and Fireworks Display and I have a long history! It is one of the daylilies I would still grow if I could only grow 10. It has been an amazing parent for me.

So has Chief Blackhand. Passes on amazing plant habit - lots of branching and bud count and if you walk by with pollen, it sets a pod. Several years ago, I took a bloom of Curt Hanson's diploid Never Say Never to Dottie. I may have given her some of the plant later on --- so it stands to reason I would really like her intro this year from Chief Blackhand x Never Say Never.... it is called Christmas Night.
Really pretty!!!

Since Dottie lives so close to me - she was the reason I really got interested big time in daylilies - all her plants do very well for me. She's a stickler when it comes to good color and good plant habit. I wish I could grow all of Dottie's intros! I also like that she introduces a wide range of colors, patterns, forms and bloom sizes. Tets and Dips.

I like her plants too. I purchased a few several years ago and she told me she was retiring then. I guess she is still going strong.

She did stop selling from the garden, and got rid of almost all her plants. She kept a few promising crosses, and a few select seedlings to grow out further, but she is not making any more crosses. She used to have a large area of lined out seedlings, and a few named plants of other people for sale. They were tagged with prices, and you could go in, choose some and she would dig them.

I don't think I could stop making crosses, lol. I could see downsizing quite a bit though. It's getting harder and harder for me to divide clumps the older I get.
