Seeing little goats makes me excited for the possibility that my family and I will have goats soon as well. Possibly even today if their visit to the trade show goes well.

everyone! They're very sweet and hilarious to watch. Sometimes they are dead asleep and then suddenly pop up and zoom around. They're also using the hay bags as trampolines.

Bonnie, no I'm not retaining any boys this year. I bought 5 bucks last year, which was more than I needed.

Daphne, yes they have been disbudded. It's a personal choice that people have a hard time with. I have polled goats in my herd (naturally do not grow horns) so those goats would be at a significant disadvantage in a face off to a horned goat. It's also for my personal safety, as well as my son's safety. If you see green in their ears that's from tatooing. Everyone in my herd is registered with the ADGA.

Monty, I highly recommend goats! They are so sweet and fun. Which breed are you considering? I have Nigerian Dwarfs.

i've not been around too many goats, especially billies , and the only one i had been around scared the bjeezus out of me. i was standing near a picture window admiring my friend's backyard, and this billy came running full force, .....and rammed his head on the plate glass window where i was standing. luckily for goat and me, picture window didn't shatter. the upshot, he did not like me and i was a threat to his nanny, and his "henny penny". (his pet chicken that slept on his withers at night.)....... what a fright. also, luckily for me, the friend had a special plate glass installed because of this billy..

he was a big ol' thing; a regular sized goat, not the pygmy variety. i'm only 4'10" and he would have gotten my head or throat. needless-to-say, i'm very wary of billy goats.

That goat would have scared the heck out of me too.

Oh gosh that's so scary Daphne! Even though my goats are pretty small, the yearling bucks overpower me quite often and it can be really intense.

She is our recent acquisition for today. Along with three more Lavender Orpingtons (eight weeks old) from a trade show.

She's beautiful Monty! I hope she has a friend. Goats are herd animals and getting really depressed when not in a pair or more.

Cute. If you ever need a baby sitter, I charge 4 irises, a slice of pizza,along with a coke zero and cheesecake for 2 hours.I will even iris sitat the,l same rate.

Liz - She didn't have a partner or a mate from the trade show. She was the only goat there, actually. We are going to get another goat in the coming days, though. We found another one we liked for fairly cheap, but she was over an hour and a half away from her. We may have some more soon.

She is really sweet. I squatted over to take some pictures of the flowers around here, and she did not butt me over. She came over up beside me and let me pet her. She is a sweetie!
