I dunno... Back during the day.... cow locked in stanchion for milking purposes... when she decided that she couldn't hold it any longer.... coulda filled a 5 gallon bucket from just her going once....

At the same time.... all that urinating in the house in the clean drinking water.... seems an awful waste.... of both the urine and the drinking water.

Johannes Lehmann, said he has thought about doing that, and now perhaps he will. I told him there are many "regular" people who would be greatly interested in such a book. Crossing Fingers!

Agreed. I just take mine out of the fire place. It sounds messy, but it actually is not. Put it in a container, throw some compost, flour, molasses, urine whatever etc on it, and let it perkolate.

I just toss my ashes into the compost pile. I thought about making biochar, but from all the studies I've read it's of much value to me. I read that the biochar is intended for poor soils that are bare of nutrients, like sand. The nutrients cling to the biochar instead of leaching, the roots find the biochar, happy plants.

I just re-potted an orchid and used biochar - I expect it may take a while to see what happens, but I have high hopes. I am actually a serial killer of orchids and this is the first one I have managed to keep alive - it has even bloomed several times. I got it from friends when I had my gall bladder out and was in the hospital for 8 days. My friend came to my door with the orchid and had a great big smile on her face. But I froze when I saw it, convinced I would kill it. I have followed friends directions to the T and it has grown so much the roots deformed the inside pot. We shall see what happens. Crossing Fingers!
