Well, I've got in all my seeds from
orders and swaps in and winter has set in good here, so the sorting and starting can get underway. I can't wait to start seeing results so I can justify the pile of jugs and bottles we've been shuffling around and tripping over!

This season marks the first time I started seeds indoors. I must say, they're doing alright. My only question is the duration of misting once they get their true leaves. I've started:

- tomatoes
- hot peppers
- eggplant
- tithonia (annual)

That's all I have room for. I had a large seed tray and placed on top of an extra heating pad, light source is a west facing window.

They look good, especially if only getting window light!

Most seedlings like a little mist. Bottom watering as they grow has worked well for me.

I've been starting seeds indoors for over 5 years, so this is my first official "indoor seed starter" thread! Hilarious!

I have a modified DIY gro station, using this YouTube video as a starter. Modifications? A 4-bulb shop light, longer legs, sturdier chains on the shop light and taping half an emergency blanket (99 cent pocket-sized packaged) on the suspending PVC pipe and letting it drop down the backside, to reflect light back onto the seedlings.

This accommodates: 2 1/2 10-20 trays of newly-sprouted seedlings (vertically to the shop light) and 5 1020 trays of seedlings being grown out (perpendicular to the shop light).

This year, so far, I have started/sprouted/ am growing out -
Brussels sprouts
French marigolds
Hot peppers (both jalapenos and ornamental varieties)
Tomatoes

Monday, I will start nasturtiums

Later:
yellow crookneck squash
pickling cucumbers (two varieties)

I am also a huge fan of bottom watering once seedlings have sprouted. I very rarely mist or water from the top.
