HI Elaine, I guess it just depends on our micro climates, somehow this bulb needed to feel some sort of dormancy..
who knows..I have other amaryllis bulbs outdoors too which I did not subject to any dormancy, some bloomed, some still in nada land....and it has been terribly dry here too, I think it affects them as well somehow. Our winters though mild are also cool..
For me whatever works to make it bloom
and the first aspect of my experiment too is trying to see if it can continue on living in hydroton rocks with gel beads..and it worked quite well. Dormancy or no dormancy is now a non-issue for me
