So my wife and I have decided to turn around our entire backyard this year! But we're having hard time trying to decide what to do with one ugly area right behind our garage. There used to be some vines -- we ripped them all out! Beneath, rocks, stones, bricks, a stump. It's just nasty! We'll most likely have to raise the bed a bit but we don't know what to do. So, please, feel free to offer some ideas!
Things to keep in mind: sun from sunrise to about 1pm-2pm. Black walnut located nearby, so the ground is definitely contaminated with juglone.
Oh, and let me attach some pics! Thank You!

Looks like you have plenty of space against foundation for a raised bed and you get enough sun for many plants. This link has a list of plants that will grow by Black Walnut. http://www.mortonarb.org/trees...
Hope this helps
