I went out and did some weed eating - add one more thing to the list of 'can't do'. We have thunderstorms coming and I have some hand sewing to do, so will keep me from doing more things I shouldn't. It is hard looking at all that needs done and knowing I'm going to have to supervise most of it. I did some weeding last night and that is still within my abilities, but only if I don't have to kneel or bend too much to do it. I guess I'll get the seat/kneeler out and see how I can best put it to use. And my handy long handled weeder/cane...

Just found out the grands don't have school tomorrow.....teacher in-service or something like that-.............so I will be having company for at least half the day. DS mentioned something about taking a half day off of work so he can spend it with them. Oooooo............LOVE having the Little Buddies here. Green Grin! I go and pick them up so Dad doesn't have to drive down here. He has to be to work at 7. I just go up and hang out till they get up, then we have breakfast, then maybe go to town if we "need" to get something, then come down here. I'm sure Aleigh will ask if we can have a picnic in the greenhouse again. I will do my best to accomodate her.

that sounds like fun! We had a floor picnic when the little grands were here and the big grands had as much fun as the little ones did.

When they are here for lunch and we eat in the house, Aleigh gets a clothesbasket, turns it upside down, we put a beach towel on for a tablecloth then she and Grammy eat off of that. Sitting on the floor, of course. Well, we DO use plates too, not eating directly off the towel. Rolling on the floor laughing

Sounds quite festive - for an indoor picnic, at least.

How do you pronounce Aleigh's name?

happy St Patrick's Day. I am wearing green, but it's more of a forest green and black plaid flannel shirt than Kelly green. Not too Irish here, more Scots and Dutch than anything, I guess.

The weather remains warm, with a very spring-like fog out there. I could probably get out some of my short sleeved shirts, but it just doesn't seem right, it being only the middle of March.

Stan and SIL are going out fence fixing today. I've got the brownies in the oven, and butter warming for cookies in the bowl. There's a loaf of bread out of the freezer thawing on the counter and I'll be making beef salad later, although the sliced deli ham is what will go fastest. I don't know if either of the grandkids are coming over. I imagine they have softball and baseball practice sometime today. They may be able to get the early games in this year, if the weather holds. That often isn't the case.

Anna, did you have a greenhouse picnic?

No, we sat in the yard on an old sheet.

I wore shorts to our milking job last night and this morning. Felt darn good, too. I was too hot in the sweatpants, so took them off. I always wear shorts under my sweatpants for everyday.

Stupid groundhog must have been wrong; we all seem to be having an early spring.

Honestly, I've never trusted a woodchuck for anything but making a mess of hayfields.

It's rainy and cool right now, 53, which is 10 degrees higher than the average high for this date, upper 60s later. Tomorrow, the first day of spring, is to be in the lower 70s and the next day, the mid to upper 70s. I know to some of you that sounds normal, but here it is very strange. My roses have huge leaf buds and the early spring flowers have completely faded. The daffs are ready to burst.

My honeysuckle is leafing out like crazy. I'm trying to make a tree standard out of it, so stripped all growth off on the bottom and stem. We'll see how this all goes. LOL Rhododendron looks like it will not bloom.............*sigh*.........was so hoping for flowers from that.

Floor is in, now we'll have to move stuff in tomorrow. And let me be the first to tell you.............leave your fridge out in the rain, you will get a shock when you go grab the door to open it. Have to unplug it to open it. LOL Tomorrow it will be gone anyway.

Have a milking job tomorrow and Wednesday, so it's back at 'em again for a bit. Had to turn down a job for this Sat. night as we have plans. A neighborhood campfire/get-together for the next-yard neighbor and we will be having FIREWORKS!!!! Yay............been way too long since we've had fireworks.

Happy Spring. We'll be celebrating with summer temperatures and clear skies. I'll be doing some garden cleaning, very light garden cleaning. Stan's been working on the bits of fences that they didn't get done over the weekend. The outdoor heifers have decided that the grass is much better than the hay, so he's going to put them down the lane and let them work on the pasture down there.

the daffodils started blooming yesterday, the crocus are pretty much gone. The peepers were in full chorus last night, first time we've heard them here.

Raining here this morning - Yea!

Our honeysuckle is starting to bloom, and the pecan trees are starting to leaf - a sure sign of spring (although it's been spring here for a month at least.)

Those refrigerator manufactures need to clean up their acts! Imagine them not being rain-resistant!

Since I can't shred clover off the pastures today, I'll be repairing one of the sheds, working mainly on the inside. Circular saws are probably not rain-proof either.

They say that the temperature will hit 80 today. That usually doesn't happen until late late May and then it's not a sure thing. It is supposed to cool down over the weekend, which won't hurt my feelings. I'm not saying that the pleasant weather hasn't been lovely, but ...

Last week of a record setting March and we are back to more normal temperatures, which means freezes. My fruit trees have very large buds and I am a bit worried about the possibility of no fruit this year. The big plum bush is already in bloom, so none of that for sure.

After looking at the painted kitchen walls, SU and I decided that the living room looks like cwap...............so, away I go again, painting-hater that I am. And since the shock value worked great with the black kitchen wall............I'm painting one wall a deep purple and the other walls will be a light lilac. Am looking at the swatch I slopped on the wall where the computer is. It looks quite calming and restful. It had to look good against the orange, which it does. I would have really liked to go with a deep red on the one wall, but I figured that would have given the SU eye problems. Green Grin!

Fireworks were grand. Here is proof.

That is always a problem when painting - where do you stop?

I've been shredding pastures to clip the deadly clover off and give the grass a chance to get going. We also cut down and burned a couple of trees that were killed by the drought. Alas there are many more to deal with. The ones in more accessible areas will be cut up for fire wood - in case we have a winter next year.

I found a quart of moss green that I had made in 2002 and misplaced. I think it was for the bedroom, now just to remember which wall I was going to use it on. the living room/dining room has antique white walls except for the east wall at the end. I painted that a nice denimy blue. It helped to put the long room in perspective.

Had some rain in the night. I woke up at 3 am and it was coming down quite nicely. Haven't been out to check the puddle situation............if there are puddles, we got a good amount, if not, well, then, not so much. Green Grin!

Painted my one wall that is going to be purple yesterday. Coat #1.........I devoutly hope 2 coats will cover it. It is VERY purple. The color is "Wild Violet", and it's really true to the name.

Must be everyone is busy. Stan just took some pregnant heifers down to the dry cow pasture. He's going to have to go to town later to pick up some meds from the vet and talk to my brother about his pasture. My brother now has 5 horses and a goat living at his farm, so the pastures are going to be used a bit differently.

I've been writing some articles soon to be seen on ATP and trying to do some catching up on the house. The warm has given in to more normal temperatures, and even a little snow, so I've spent the last couple of days in the house. Sunny now, but rain laster today and, again, possibly some snow overnight. such joy!
