That is unusual Lynn. I'd like to see what it looks like in a few months.

Yes Clint, I'm anxiously waiting for those pictures too! Whistling

That is a really cool semp for sure.

Sandi, I wish it was mine, it belongs to Erwin Geiger in Germany. He has a very large sempervivum nursery. http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=n&prev=...

This site will make you drool and start your Christmas list. Thumbs up

Sadly, it is not legal to import plants from Germany without a lot of expense and risk. I don't recall exactly how it can be done, but it involves getting an import license, a certificate and I believe, a quarantine period for the plants involved. Some still attempt to do this illegally, but the risk of doing so is very high, involves severe fines and even possible jail time.

You can find more information at this official site: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/plant_imports...

Having said that, it would be nice if some of his plants could be legally imported to the US. I believe from time to time that some of the larger sempervivum sellers do occasionally go to the expense. We need a couple "millionaire" members!

Twit is correct on the importation laws. Not something to mess around with.

I have not received semps from overseas. Sure wish we could though. He would also love some of our American bred semps.
I am hoping we have found a way to accomplish this project. Keep your fingers crossed. If it comes about, I will give you a link to where you can buy the newly acquired European bred semps. Thumbs up

From what I have heard, from friends that work at the botanic gardens here in town, plants can be imported with an agriculture inspection certificate which is costly. If you look at the site, and scroll through shipping info, a cost for the certificate is listed. As far as a quarantine, I don't know about that. But it sure would be fun to order!

I split this topic into it's own thread. So if any one wants to continue on the topic of importing plants from other countries, we can do it here and not lose it.
