Keep a large basket or plastic container in a convenient spot on the porch or deck or in the garden shed for holding small hand tools, yard shoes/boots, pruners, scissors/shears, permanent marker, notepad, pen, gardening gloves, hat, sunscreen, etc.

Hi Lin...had to laugh...over the years I have been given a number of garden tool totes etc and I still use a bright orange 5 gal bucket around in the yard...but I do stick a tote in it in case I decide to use the bucket for weeds and such. I used to have a basket on the breeze way....but the cats thought it made a better nap spot than tool holder.

I use my empty kitty litter bins for this kind of stuff. Sturdy and I am reusing too ~Jan

Jan: That's a great use for those plastic kitty litter containers. I have a cat but don't know why I never thought of using the plastic bins when they are empty! I have a 5 gal bucket that sea salt came in for my husbands aquarium and I use it for filling with water and fertilizer when I'm feeding my orchids. The big plastic kitty litter containers would be perfect for storage or holding water/fertilizer too.

Oh, yes, those litter buckets are great! I use them for trash cans, and mixing soil, and toting around tools, and I've painted a couple to use for planters!
