Our Lowe's store had tons of these. Sorry, I don't remember the price. My guess is that they will be short lived in the heat of the south but I've not actually tried them. They are gorgeous!

Thank you for the post. I stumbled upon them on internet, and fell in love. I searched google and found nothing nowhere. Oh well, I will try again in the spring, who knows maybe I will find some at my Lowe's!

Oh! Those! I've grown them from seed, but I've never seen them in stores. They're kind of slow growing from seed, but they are lovely! I hadn't seen the blue ones.

Dag, I thought they were something new! I found them at a local feed and seed. I saw others that were very beautiful, like plain pink. Were did you get the seed?

Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC. They have a mail order service and they're quite reasonable. These may not be exactly the same thing, but they sure look like them! These were sold as Cineraria or Senceio Cruento, Masterpiece Mix. Here are a couple of pictures of plants from that package:



When I looked up the ones you mentioned, it shows them as a hybrid, so maybe those are an improved variety.

I got some of those earlier this year. They didn't live long but they were worth it, IMO. Like mums for Spring. I didn't realize they were so sensitive to heat until it was too late. I would get them again but put them in the ground in morning-only dappled light with other plants to help shade the roots. Seems like that might keep them alive a few weeks longer.

The seed packet I have says they are shade-loving, and do best if kept slightly pot-bound.

Edited to add: And aphids just love them.

Oh good, they attract aphids. Just what I need.

What a surprise!! Did they really forget to mention that it is a aphid magnet?

Well, to be fair, it was only a problem when I brought a couple of plants indoors to try to overwinter them. Hey, I have the same problem with morning glories and petunias, too!

Sounds like you need a lot of Lady Bugs.

Hmmm,, somehow, the prospect of lady bugs in the house does not fill me with joy and anticipation.

It's funny. I never see an aphid on any of my outdoor plants. But let me bring one in the house and BINGO! aphids everywhere!

I guess the aphids here just want to be house pets. Sigh. Hey, maybe they come in on the dogs?
