This is a short idea to kill stubborn grass or weeds without chemicals and with zero effort.

All you need to do is lay a couple of old window on the ground in a neglected part of the yard, then forget to pick up the windows and the grass will be killed by accident. *Blush*

Yes, I admit I did this by accident but if you want to use solarization to kill grass/weeds in a selected area of your yard on purpose it's probably best (and much safer) to use 4-mil plastic weighed down with bricks/rocks. It takes about 6-8 weeks to work - yes, a long time but zero chemicals and very little effort.

So, whether you do this by accident or on purpose, at least we know it works really well. Rolling on the floor laughing

@bazram, why?
You don't kick walls down, you pull the nails out and let them fall.

Works great. I was at a garage sale and they had a lot of plexi glass I got enough to kill an area of 100ft x 100ft.

I've done something similar with clear plastic. Like a painter's plastic tarp. Just hold it down with rocks. Large area and relatively cheap.

Yea, I could see this working really well here in Arizona during the summer. Today it's 110 degrees in the shade. It takes a little time but you can cook an egg on the sidewalk in the sun in this heat. This would cook the grass and kill it.

Great idea. Hurray!
One has to do more than just read. They have to investigate and think for themselves.

How long does it take for the grass to return? I know most methods including plastic kill the grass temporarily but the grass or weeds return back as soon as you pull up the plastic. I have had good luck with cardboard , It seems to control the weeds and grass much longer than most methods.
