Up til now, when you post a comment about an image in the plant database, the thread doesn't really appear anywhere except on the image itself, and the thread watcher for you and the submitter of the image.

That changes today! In addition to the above, we now have a new forum that shows all the discussions of all the images in the database.

Really, I should have set this up long ago.

Anyway, now you can "watch that forum" and you will notified on the front page of all threads that pertain to images in the database. I think this will make the photos in the DB even more valuable as people can use them as springboards for conversation.

Speaking of photos, I knew Google was picking up ATP articles and so forth, but I didn't realize Google was picking up our photos as well until I saw one of mine awhile ago ... fourth row, first photo (pink pussy willow catkins). I'm sure everyone else knew this already, but it is the first time I've actually recognized one as a photo I took.

I don't know if the link will work now because the photos displayed on Google are constantly changing. Click it and it takes the viewer right to the database entry. Nifty.

Must go update that databox now. I am so far behind sometimes.

Found it! But it was in a different position. Just have to hover the mouse over the pics to see the source info. Cool!

I'm also getting a lot of ATP links at the top of the list for plant searches.

Google has a huge amount of our database in their index and we get many hundreds of visitors a day coming in through the DB.

We've had 1,307 visits to ATP from Google searches so far today. 293 of those visits were to an image in the DB. 420 of them were to a plant's entry in the DB.

This is so exciting.

Which reminds me that we really need some of the details filled in for so many images!
