I'm hoping to get some suggestions as to what vine to plant with a clematis that I currently have which is
too short for the trellis I have it on. It doesn't matter if it grows as an annual or perennial. The trellis is approximately 6 feet but the clematis I have on it only gets 3+ feet. It appears to be Niobe clematis.

I think that a morning glory will be too tall as I mine have grown 10+ feet. I have Cup and Saucer started but again, I think they would overwhelm the trellis. Any ideas?

Thanks

Gloriosa lily? Mine did so beautifully last year. The trellises they are on are about 3 feet tall, so I would say the lilies grew 4.5 feet.

Polly: Thanks for the suggestion. I'll google it and see what the stats are on it.
Time to get back outside and enjoy the great weather here.

Try looking through Brushwood, they have several other vines beside clematis. http://www.gardenvines.com/sho...
I just planted a Jasminum officinale 'Fiona Sunrise'
http://www.gardenvines.com/sho...
with Romantika, http://www.gardenvines.com/sho...
hoping that the dark blooms will really set off nicely against the golden foliage.

I also just planted a Gelsemium sempervirens 'Margarita' http://www.gardenvines.com/sho... next to a purple clematis, can't remember which one now. Shrug!

Thanks Sue for the suggestion. I'm beat from outside work so I think since Friday will be a "rain" day, I'll be spending time on google to look up the suggestions. I've not ordered from Brushwoods yet so it will be a treat to revisit their site.
