Hi,
I came back from Tucson yesterday with a small potted spruce cone cactus from the Tuscon BG. I plan on having it outside during the warmer months here since I think it should be dry enough outside, but it'll have to come inside for the winter. It's in a rather small plastic pot and I'd like to repot it into a clay or ceramic pot that can handle our sunshine better. Is it better to repot it now, during the cooler time?

Oooh - I love those! The coloration with changing temps is really cool.

I would think early spring would be optimal, just as it's coming out of dormancy and putting on some new growth. That's really only a guess, however, but I don't think you can do much wrong with those plants.
In the end, only kindness matters.

Science is not the answer, it is the question.

When I need to repot a cactus, I try to wait when it is Spring, so it is warmer, and if possible no forecast of rains. The only time I would have to uproot and repot when it is still cold when I see rot setting in, then I have to chop off the offending part, wait for it to callus and then repot.
