We have recently cleared some very old trees at the bottom of our garden to build a greenhouse. However, whilst in the process of building the greenhouse we realise that there are a lot birds flying in and around the trees in the surround garden - and they a pooping on the base of the green house.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to how we can protect the greenhouse glass from bird poop before we finally put the glass in the greenhouse.

Many thanks
Marian

You must have a lot of birds! I've never seen anything quite that bad. I'm clueless as to what you could do, except a lot of cleaning afterwards.

Many thanks plant manager for your prompt response - as you say a lot of birds! My husband suggested we hosed down the green house every week - which is a possibility - but a bit time consuming and also difficult if we were to get a hose pipe ban

Hosing it down seems like your only choice, if it continues to be allowed. Our water is so hard that it would soon turn everything white if I did that to mine. Hopefully you have better water!

That is a lot of bird poop! D'Oh! I'd have to agree with Karen. Hosing it is probably your only option unless you want to cut more trees down around the new greenhouse. Don't forget to post some pictures of your progress and the finished greenhouse. We always love to see pictures of greenhouses.

You may want to try a RainX product on the glass to help keeping the bird droppings from sticking. It works on car windshields. It's hard to control birds just flying over. And certain seasons have them eating different things, some more "stainable" than other foods. Hopefully it's a seasonal thing and doesn't happen year round? Our cars get plummeted in purple when the muscatines ripen in the woods. There are no branches above the gh roof for them to perch an' poo?
