Kals are addicting! Do you have any others? I have tons of them. Here are a couple random pics from today.

K. blossfeldiana as a hanging, leaning/dangling plant
Thumb of 2018-07-27/purpleinopp/ad020b

K. luciae holding more than a drop of water, at least a teaspoon

I mostly ignore them over the summer, except to water. In a few months, the blooming will begin on many of them & I will be constantly preoccupied by them.

Sorry, the very last house plant I would ever buy would be a Mother of Thousands! Invasive. Gene

Not all Kals do that. Most of them don't.

It's only invasive if you have water. I saw it invade an entire garden in Santa Barbara, Calif, but I've had it outside here in NM, and no problems. I have to really baby it to get it to grow.

I do own one Kalanchoe. Just not Mother of Thousands. You have me there though. Most invasive plants would be less invasive if there was no water. Gene

And sufficient year-round warmth. I grew them in Pennsylvania and they spread EVERYWHERE during the summer and fall, then all went away in winter.

I have it(mother of thousands), never bloomed, but problem free. Though its not considered kalanchoe anymore , but bryophyllum is a more suitable name.

...that causes a lot of problems, more than you realize. Especially for people like me that grow by "genus".

I have a few extra Mother of Thousands in pots. I started them again after I thought I got rid of it while downsizing. I find a seedling here and there. I pull it up. Not "invasive ", just "high maintenance ".

Off topic of course, you know me. One summer long go when I lived in town we had a neighbor who was a fanatic about keeping his lawn looking perfect. Hired a company to come out and spray often. We collected all the dandelion seed we could find. Saved it in the ref. Then during the winter we pretended to have a huge snowball fight in our front yard. Snowballs laced with seed. They all wound up on his lawn. Gene

It reminds me of a boss I had who liked to take her own alcohol to sporting events where it was not allowed. She would put hard liquor in hypodermic needles and inject it into oranges then sit and eat oranges from her purse the entire game.
Keep going!

How often do you think I water this pot of mixed Mammillaria and what do you suppose those are coming up in the pot (again). It was a facetious question, I don't expect an answer.

PS: @plantmanager, how many do you want? I will mail them to you. (that was a serious offer).

Different species. Most mother of thousands are bryophyllum daigremontianum, or hybrids, one dubbed mother of millions, with the species you own , bryophyllum delagoense. Your species(i own one too), is much more drought tolerant than the wide leaved one( for several obvious reasons)....

I never keep up with the name changes for two reasons: First, I don't feel like wasting all that plastic writing new tags. And second, I don't want my cactus, most of whom are old, to have an identify crisis in their old age.

And I especially don't rename Kalanchoes.
