Here is a Ming Aralia that has been in the same 8-inch pot with the same soil for over 30 years.

I just picked up one. I drove out to a nursery in Chandler for some bamboo and they had the wrong species. So I browsed the garden plants and found this wonderful house plant. I have it sitting next to my Money Tree.

I used to have one of these frilly-leaf Ming Aralias when I lived in Tx City. My Dad rooted it off of hs huge tree for me. It loved it's home in a big SE-facing picture window. Grew to be about 5' tall and had gnarly branches that meandered left and right to entirely fill a 7' picture window. I lost it after we retired up to Central TX. It survived the move, loved an east-facing window; did even better on a covered patio. But its demise came quickly when I forgot to bring it inside one winter when we had our first night below 60ยบ. I struggled to nurse it back, but the Grim Reaper wasn't taking no for an answer. Sad

Currently growing two new babies of the "parsley-leaf variety" of this genus. Had 'em just a month. Fingers crossed they do OK for me. Smiling

Very shiny pot, for a 30 yrs old "same" pot. I wish they make a great quality pot like that in my country. here most plastic pot cracked, scratched and decayed with in few years

Tofi, I'd forgotten about that, and went back to look. I don't see the photo in the comment and don't remember where I saw it. I haven't had the Ming Aralia myself.
