Found this in the middle of an established clump. First picture shows what looks to be a scape getting ready to pop up.

I have a bunch of clumps of this hosta and they're already ending the end of their bloom.

Is this a sport, a seedling or ...?

Might be another plant that somehow got attached, but possibly, digging it up might be the only way to know. Did you previously have a similar plant in that location? It's just possible that a bit of root and crown might have been left behind if it was moved. As you probably know, seedlings are usually solid colour unless the pod parent is streaked, but exceptions do occur.

Ann, thanks for the reply.
That clump has been in place for a couple of years now. It was previously in a long line of that particular variety. I don't think we have anything that looks like it. And I am uneducated when it comes to hosta genetics and how they inherent/display their genes.
I've only bought them, planted them or got them with the house...
