I have this NOID iris (from a friend). Just ran across an iris in the data base and it sure looks like my NOID. What do you think? Could it be Stepping Out?? I didn't measure the height during bloom time but pretty sure it makes the registered height of Stepping Out.
Here are two pictures of my NOID: (taken June 1, 2018)

Or could it be a "child" of Stepping Out: Going My Way: Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Going My Way')

It could be, although I think it shows too much white on the standards to match either one of them. The problem is there are a LOT of named irises with that color pattern, up around a 1000 in fact. There are probably at least a couple dozen that match it so closely it might not be possible to tell them apart even if they were growing next to each other.

Purple/violet plicata markings on a white ground is a pattern that been around since the very beginning of bearded iris breeding and they continue to be introduced to this day. They might be the most difficult type to get an ID on because there are just so many of them.

Kent, I was thinking maybe a little too much white also.

Arlyn I agree. BUT isn't it funny how a "name" can make us buy an iris? Hilarious!

I have several "collections" of irises...."Indian themed names", and "Family names" are two that include some really "butt-ugly" irises, but, they are there because of the name Hilarious! .

Hilarious! Hilarious! I hear ya. Hilarious! Hilarious!
It's better to have a beauty with NOID than a butt ugly with a name. It's called "good marketing". Hilarious! Hilarious!
