In case you missed the news in the Tully Herror thread, Wild Iris Rows is closing. The last orders for bargain bunches are being taken, and they are working on getting final shipments out. While not as talked about as much as some of the other vendors, the Hesters always carried a wide variety of iris with lists including the most helpful "recommended" and "most recommended" categories for the best growers. When I first started really adding iris to my garden his recommendations stood me well.

To quote part of Greg Hester's email to me: "Yes, Leslie, this is my last year running the rows. I'm getting a little old for it and need to move on to less strenuous things."

I got many of my first Burseen's from them, all space agers. Amongst them are some of my favorites, including Mercy Marci, Abby and Me and I Wuv Woses.

So thank you Greg and Darnell Hester! I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

And I have to add my thanks to them for all the generous bonus rhizomes they sent this year with my order. It was amazing. I ordered 4, and got 5 bonuses!

By contrast, I ordered 4 this year from Schreiner's, and got zero bonuses. I am not unhappy with Screiner's, but I couldn't help but notice the difference. But perhaps the Hesters were especially generous this year because they had already decided this would be their last year. I have no way of comparing because this was my first hear ordering from Wild Iris Rows. I wish I had known about them before.

Daisy - they were always generous with bonuses. They were my first experience with a vendor giving so many bonuses.

Sounds like a good time to order one of their clearance packages for those who want TB's. Big Grin

Leslie ~ Thank You! for sharing the news. I guess that I have missed out altogether, as this is only my second year of growing a quantity of irises. I have already exceeded my limit in ordering this year, so I won't be ordering their "bargain bags", though it certainly would be a nice way for some members to boost up their collections.

It is nice that you had such a good vendor when you were starting out. I am sure that they will be missed by many people. Crying

They carry all sorts of iris, so your bargain bunches can have dwarfs and other medians in there as well as talls. You can ask for them to be in your box. If they have some they will try to give you some.
