I read this article a couple of years back, bought myself a hori hori knife, and now almost always thin my irises instead of lifting and dividing. It saves time and avoids unnecessarily disturbing clumps when I want to divide either to share or to thin. Ace! And I love my hori hori. Thank you for an inspiring article, Kent. Smiling
