Looks like the crown rot is what I had too. I dug them up and cut away all of the rot, plus a little extra. I gave them a diluted beach bath and with the smaller tiny survivors, I gave them a soft toothbrush scrub of diluted bleach and dipped all of the rhizomes into a small bucket of Comet and tapped them against the side to shake off any extra. I placed them upside down in the sun to dry and now have them in the barn to sit for awhile longer. I'll pot them up and replant the larger ones in October. I also tossed out the soil that was under and around the infected irises. Then soaked the holes with diluted bleach water and covered it with Comet. Afterwards, (while wearing some gloves) I scrubbed all of the tools and work table with a stronger bleach solution (about 30%).

I had this same rot happen last September on new irises that were just planted. We had a late nasty heat wave and that didn't mix well with the new wet iris beds. It's in these same beds that the problems are popping up again. Anyway, the treatment I did above saved quite a few of the irises last year.

The drip line error was an oopsie and a new learning experience for me.

Oh, I've had some rot too.. Rob doesn't get all the glory Whistling I even found some today at the base of a bloom stalk on an Agapanthus- which has always been a bomb-proof plant.

Rob, did you hear about taking a toothbrush to the rhizomes from Shirley? I had a conversation with her some time ago about that.

Thank you friends,

I had some out of town visitors, so didn't get a chance to write back or did anything yet with the surviving rhizomes, just put them under my porch (oops sorry I just saw you @TBGDN told me to put under the sun) after I pulled it out, the cut looks dry, will the bleach wash/comet still work on it ? Do I need to dig out most of the dirt from the hole and throw it away ? I ordered the Bonide Sulfur fungicide from Amazon, should be arrived tomorrow or Friday, I have some leftover Fungicide spray, should I spray the hole with this first ? Thank you all again, I am forever in debt with all of you in this wonderful group Group hug

I wish you all good luck with your poor irises. Crossing Fingers! Group hug

I feel like I may need to check some of my newer plantlings JUST in case. Some of the ones I planted several weeks ago seem to be losing colour in their fans - but, it is hard to tell for me if that is just a natural thing (aka, die away the leaves so the rhizomes can root) or if they're actually injured or not.

A noid iris I will call 'PR' (pinkish-red, kind of like Louvois) - there were a lot of rhizomes given to me by a great friend of mine (who wants to give me more! What!), and those were higher priority than say, what I already have. She also gave me what is unmistakably an iris pallida clone (they're E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E around these parts of Virginia (eastern? Close-ish to WV) and even more so in NC and towards the coastline. Regardless, I am grateful for those, and I will easily take care of them, but PR is a new type, so it will get more work put to it to take care of the rhizome - ANYWAYS, every one of PR (probably around 8-10 rhizomes), the fans seem to be yellowing.
She also gave me a yellow noid (real light, lemony yellow which I'll identify as Lemon-yellow, or LY for time's sake Big Grin ), and they're paired together with PR in a pattern (PR/LY/PR, or YL/PR/YL and so on) in little groups. Most of the LYs are doing well, but some have begun to yellow as well.

It is particularly noticeable in one of my recent orders, Lucy Doodle. She seems to have been hit perhaps the worst. The day I planted the two rhizomes (probably a split, because I ordered one), it rained really hard that night, if I recall. Every other TB I purchased/received (I know LD is a intermediate) look really quite fine. Right at the top where the cuts are made, there are some slightly yellowing spots, but that doesn't worry me as much as how Lucy Doodle, some of the outer leaves have already browned in what, 12-13 days? PR and LY have been there a few days longer, and PR has been subject to the rain, and now the sudden drought (it hasn't rained in around 9-10 days after being 'significantly' raining 13/20 days in August - whew, it has been a wet and humid July and August). I have brand new varieties introduced that have been delicately watered just in case it decides to pour out the heavens on us at any given day. Sighing!

D'Oh! They probably need more water. Rolling on the floor laughing

Regardless, any ideas? I'll try and see if I can get accurate 'depictions' or images later on showing what I am talking about. Or, I may be overly worried for absolutely no reason. I know irises are incredibly resilient.....but I'm not sure they are until they're well and rooted. Shrug!
TB 'Starting Fresh' blooming for me in May of 2022. It bloomed for a week and a half with nine buds.

Some of mine are potted and place under my covered porch, they dont look any different or show any growth yet, but I know most of them rooted good, I wonder if you all have any advise how often should I water them and for how long (I plan to move them to the raised beds once the weather cool some)

Thank you...

Javamom, I lightly water my iris lightly in the morning and afternoon for the first week to 10 days. Once they have rooted, I usually water in the morning a couple times a week. I keep an eye on them when I,don't water justin case they do need water.
