This is a very old plant. I found a picture of it in a book of English garden plants from the 17th century. I live in Denver Co and these peas grow on fences and in alleys in the old parts of town. I collected seeds and now have them on my garden fence in suburbia.
You are so right. It is very popular is Europe, and not seen too frequently here. They are unique, make a beautiful bouquet and I do grow them on a trellis in my garden also.

I just blew up the photograph and I may be mistaken. The vine seems to exude the tendrils. Perhaps you can identify the plant. I will also try to id it. I apologize for any unintentional error.

I'm sorry, I don't know what it is. It's very pretty and the photograph is beautiful.

Thank you very much for your input. I am forwarding a request to Zuzu to transfer this incorrect identification to the correct file of Coral Vine (Antigonon leptopus).
