Protect Strawberries from the Birds

By threegardeners

Plant strawberries in hanging baskets to keep the birds from eating the berries before you can. Hang the baskets all over your yard for snacking. I had a row of strawberries and didn't get a single berry before the birds, dug 'em up and put them in hanging baskets and haven't lost a berry yet.

How long have you been doing this? I bet our birds would figure it out sooner or later. I had some in a container on the back patio a couple years ago, and I think I got to taste one or two.

I grow strawberries in hanging baskets because they are just beautiful, I had not thought of birds but I have never had the birds eat the berries. I did somehow get some slugs in one, but the birds leave them alone. They are just beautiful cascading over the sides of the baskets with berries and blooms.

I bought some strawberry plants today to test this here in the middle of the woods. The flowers on these are a beautiful deep pink color, so I couldn't resist!
