I did mean exactly what Neal said. Most years they die back to where the top of the snow starts, and you're a little colder than here.

Ok, thanks, Polly. Our homeowners association only allows split rail fencing.
No one can see our backyard but it's circled by chicken wire fencing. I'm working on planting enough shrubs that will camouflage the fencing. It's all to keep the deer out.
