A friend is driving through Texas and sent me this picture, asking what the melon colored flowers are. I suggested Indian Paintbrush or Indian Blanket. She thinks the color is wrong. What are they really?

I would say Indian Paintbrush. There are about seven different species that grow in Texas.

I agree Indian Paintbrush. Most of the blooms I've seen so far this year are paler and more orange than usual. Still pretty though!
