It's actually handling the weather as well. We were a bit concerned about the top boards sagging from the weight of snow and ice, but it's been up for a couple of years now, and so far, so good. Smiling

The climbing roses and clematis should, if all goes well, make a nice showing on it this year, for the first time. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it does, and what the planted combos look like together.

We've had hard frosts the past couple of nights so I've covered some plants with saved leaves, but you can perhaps see a couple of the climbing roses in this picture.

Opinions(?) I need to repaint that red fence this year, and I need to do it really soon. Should I keep it burgundy (but darker than it is now) for contrast, or paint it the blue-green of the arbor and fence behind it?

I'm so glad that Y'all have joined us for the tour!

Thank you!

What a nice job you've done with your property, Chelle. Beautiful transformation!

There's a Hidden Valley Lake in northeastern Indiana? I know one in southeast Indiana?

Ours probably isn't known by such, by any but us. It's a private lake, so that's just what we call it. Smiling It didn't really seem to fit, at first, but it does now. When you come into the teardrop drive now, you can't see anything except a row of evergreens and rose of sharon.

Thanks for joining us, everyone! I'm really enjoying your comments. Big Grin

I love the contrast between the fence and the arbor. I think I would vote for the dark reddish color. Otherwise it is just a big clump of the same color. course that makes for an interesting palate for the flowers - no contest with them. Doesn't matter what you do, it will be beautiful. What a tremendous effort this all is. Humbling that I cannot even get my small garden together. But you explained the rationale of each type of planting so it is a planned well thought out effort with an eye to each section's possibilities. Though in some cases you tweaked the site to improve its possibilities. Thanks so much.

Yes, Mary; that's it exactly. Finding what works-where and not fighting what we have regarding natural soil, slopes and local weather conditions helps tremendously. That's the only way that we can have so many growing areas here; otherwise, it'd be way more than we could deal with.

As far as having the gardens *together* goes; it should just be enjoyable to work at it, IMHO. The gardens are never really *done*, right? Smiling

Oh, and thanks so much for sharing your opinion on the fence re-do!
