Yes, Mary; that's it exactly. Finding what works-where and not fighting what we have regarding natural soil, slopes and local weather conditions helps tremendously. That's the only way that we can have so many growing areas here; otherwise, it'd be way more than we could deal with.
As far as having the gardens *together* goes; it should just be enjoyable to work at it, IMHO. The gardens are never really *done*, right?
