Tamara, better yet, give the grandkids a list of the irises and have them make the labels, that's what I do.

I use a P touch, and then I spray them with Clear Coat, or however the heck you spell that stuff.

Trish, it's funny about the no soda. My grandkids are not allowed soda at home, but if they come her, or go out to eat, they can have one a week. Yesterday they were here, and as they were leaving we saw (how could you miss it), the nine year old granddaughter had a plastic bag with 6 soda cans in it. Guess enough to last her the rest of the week.

I don't drink soda either but I am always able to get plenty of cans out of the recycle bins on our street on Tuesday evenings (pickup is on Wednesdays). I treat them like I do manure or anything else. I wash my hands well after handling and before I touch/eat any food or drink.

A single can will make about 6-8 labels so I only need two or three cans at a time. Huggergirl, are bees are out in the evening/night? By the way, not sure how blue bins work in the rest of the country, but it is not like I am rifling through the neighbors trash. Don't want ya'll to think I am a vagrant. Rolling on the floor laughing Our blue bins (= recycle bins) are big, open rectangular hard plastic boxes. It is easy to see and pick up a couple cans out of them.

I just handed out some wide aluminun slats from a blind to some friends, will have to check on how they used them for markers. I've always used the mini blinds, but it is time to try something else. No more permanent markers for me as I can't read them after a while. We recycle aluminum cans, but I guess I could snag a few to try making markers.
