I started a few days ago to move all my plants back inside!
The greenhouse was scrubbed out in the Spring and stayed empty until now, while the Orchids spent their Summer vacation in the cage. I move the Orchids through the house and up the steps into the greenhouse.
I thought you might enjoy following the process and so I took pictures ( And will add more as I carry in more plants the next few days.) as I went along.
Seeing the empty greenhouse also enables you to see the set up. It is part of the house, built on top of the attached garage, with access through an upstairs room.

Carol, that is absolutely the truth. At this point I go through this every year, hopefully for another 25 years.... Smiling It is enjoyable to bring them back inside into their fresh environment.

Janice, yes - it is part of the whole house heating system. Ducts were pulled from the oil burner through the garage ( which is underneath the greenhouse) up into 3 registers into the greenhouse. And on nice sunny Winter days the naturally warmed up air in the greenhouse circulates through the rest of the house too. It is quite efficient.

I was wrestling today with some Succulents on the deck.... off to take pictures.

Ok, back to the Succulents and some more Orchids. Had/have to find room for the Rhipsalis and some smaller Hoyas, because they got evicted by 5 pots of gorgeous Coelogyne Burfordiense. ( I am happy to share if you are in my neighborhood).
So here is the house wall now starting to fill up with lots of different Caudiciforms/Fat Plants and some E. x lomi (besides the Asclepiads and Haworthias etc already inside). Most of the latter grew too tall to be placed on the top shelf, have to find a different spot in the sun-room for them, or chop them down.

and the top-shelf on the West side is filling up with small Cattleyas/Laelias and similar.

And there is the sunroom - these plants are not in their final spots yet, I will adjust as I go along.

Usula- what are the 2 orchids in the 5th photo in your 2nd lot of photos. The tall pot plant looking orchid in the pot sitting on a unside down pot with heaps of roots and the real tall one on the left of the pic, growing up to the roof. Haven't seen anything like them before.

Good to see your collection of orchids (and succulents ), Usula. I'm impressed how spotlessy clean your greenhouse is; if only we could keep our nursery up to that standard!

Thanks! Smiling Richard, your collection might be just a smidgeon larger..... ;-)

Bree - the one with the lots of roots hanging down is the Blc Copper Queen, the one sitting on the upside down pot ( sort of next to/close the glass) is one of my Cattleya skinneri var. alba 'Debbie' and the super tall skinny Orchid is Renanthera Nancy Chandler 'Red Dragon'. I noticed a small spike on the Renanthera, keeping fingers crossed.

Janice, if you look at the first photo in the Sept 18. pictures, the tall "box" on the left side is the return flow of the heating system.

Oh, I am happy you are posting into this thread Kathy!! You have your work cut out for you!
You know, one of these days it actually really, truly isn't going to fit anymore? I always wonder about that too but then little by little things get tucked in here and there and they all do make it inside. Right now my only true trouble makers are the E. x lomis, our wonderful warm and sunny Summer was too kind to them.
We are supposed to go down tomorrow again to 45 degr F. Fall is coming early this year, it seems.
